At the end of the course, students should be able to:
Understand the evolution of the concepts of hospitality and accommodation over time;
To know the evolution of tourist accommodation in Portugal and its trends;
Analyze the different contexts in the management and operation of the tourist accommodation;
Study the importance of quality and certification in tourist accommodation.

Teaching Metodology

The hours of theoretical-practical contact will be taught through the expository method complemented with the analysis and discussion of case studies. Tutorial guidance will be given for the practical support of the students' course of study, particularly in a group and individual assignments that will be presented orally in the classroom context in order to stimulate reflection, critical capacity and interaction in the students.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The topics covered in this curricular unit allow the student to understand the evolution of the concepts of hospitality over time, know the concept of accommodation, the different typologies, forms of exploration, forms of commercialization and market trends.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The hours of theoretical-practical contact taught through the expository method and complemented with the analysis and discussion of case studies meet the objectives initially proposed and enable learning and contextualization of concepts associated with housing and hospitality issues. The tutorial orientation in the practical support of the students' course, more concretely in the accomplishment of group and individual works that will be later presented orally in class context, helps in the continuation of the autonomous work of the students and application of the concepts to the real context.
