Objectives

The student should be able to:
Identify the planning as a management task,framing it with other management tasks;
Recognize and relate the levels and principles of corporate planning;
Define Mission, Vision and objectives
Identify and describe the most used techniques in corporate planning, recognizing and synthesizing information.
Identify the decision-making techniques.
Describe the Strategic Planning as management model, identifying the objectives of such Planning.
Identify and sort the different stages in the formulation of Strategy, summarizing the implementation and control of the Strategy.
Identify, distinguish and select the best Strategy of internationalization.

Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of English language.
Basic knowledge of Management

Teaching Metodology

A mixed method is applied, combining theoretical exposure at an early approach to matters with the active participation of students. Promoting critical reading and analysis of specifically selected texts, debate, argument and the application of new concepts and techniques as well as self-learning through guided problem solving present in case studies and final group project.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

To achieve the initial goal: "Identify the planning as a management task, framing it with other management tasks" will be taught contents 1. For the second and third goals,"Recognize and relate the levels and principles of corporate planning" and "Define Mission, Vision and objectives" contents 2 and3 will be presented.For the fourth goal,"Identify and describe the techniques commonly used in corporate planning, recognizing and synthesizing information" the internal and external auditing tecniques will be used.
The fifth objective: "Identify the decision-making techniques", will be supported in contents 4. The sixth goal: "To describe the Strategic Planning as management model, identifying the goals of this type of planning" will be achieved by contents 5. which will be complemented with the sixth goal. Finally the last goal will be achieved by the last content in the syllabus.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The teaching methods are adapted to the goals to be achieved. The teaching methods are adapted to the goals to be achieved.The goals will be achieved by: the presentation and discussion of theoretical subjects, the students’ participation and arguing, and practical problem solving regarding the topics addressed in the classes.
Initially, a theoretical exposition will be adopted, to achieve each of the proposed objectives. This will be complemented by resorting to practical cases in order to promote debate in the classroom and and a better understanding of the uses in the organizational context.
The objectives will be attained through the conjuction the various methodologies refered, promoting self learning and guidance to the students to the resolution of their group project.
