This course aims at giving more detailed knowledge and competences in Firm Organization so as the student is more able to work in the field in this area. The student should be able:
To identify each of the phases of the management cycle, which will be the basis for better understanding
other curricular units in the Management field.
To develop and present a critical analysis of real management issues concerned with Planning, Organization,
Direction and Control.
To develop an integrated approach of the organization as well as of the relations and flows of information
between different management areas.
To apply the contents in real context by doing course-works based on empirical analysis.
To develop critical analysis capacities in doing group course-works and in-class presentation and discussion.
Exposition method for presentation of the topics of the syllabus.
Application of demonstrative and active methods with real situation analysis and in-class discussion.
Guided problem solving.
Discussion of course-works presented by students in class, indicating their strengths and also the areas for
improvement in future course-works.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives
The syllabus begins with a theoretical approach that intends to clarify the importance of Management,
presenting this curricular unit as introductory to this area of knowledge. Each chapter developed in class is
structured in a way that allows its individual understanding as well as the relationship between each other,
forming a true management cycle. The syllabus allows the student to develop an integrated understanding of
the organization as well as of the flow of information between different areas of Management. It also allows the
identification of management problems and the formulation of adequate strategies, adequate to the

The exposition method of the topics considered in the syllabus, with student active in-class participation, as
well as the application of active and demonstrative methodologies allow the students to familiarize with the
concepts and to be able to apply to real situations in particular to develop and present a critical analysis of real
management problems and have an integrated view of the organization and the relationships and information
