Objectives

After concluding this course, students should be able to:
1. Understand the relevance of R & D investments for strengthening the culture of innovation and its contribution to the business;
2. Know how to apply models and tools to improve innovative capacity;
3. Understand open innovation and know how to value its specificities;
4. Recognize social innovation and know how to apply it;
5. Know how to carry out self-diagnosis on the innovative capacity of organizations;
6. Know how to implement research, development and innovation management systems.

Recommended Prerequisites

Conclusion of the course of Organisations Management.

Teaching Metodology

The expository-active method will be used to teach the syllabus, complemented with the analysis and discussion of articles and case studies in the context of collaborative work.
A methodology of teaching-learning tutorial will also be used based on two pillars: a) application to common practical exercises; b) application to specific works.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The syllabus taught in the section 1 will bear in mind objectives 1 and 4 of the programme, which will allow a development of students' skills in understanding the context and its evolution. The objective 2 is endorsed by sections 2, 3 and 4 of the programme and will enable students to understand and implement Innovation Models. The objective 3 is endorsed by sections 5, 6 and 7 of the programme and will enable students to understand and implement tools for Innovation Management.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The expository-active method will be employed to present the main concepts underlying the objectives of the CU. The interrogative method, the resolution of practical exercises and the analysis and discussion of case studies aim at the acquisition of competences of the three objectives of the UC.
