Geography of Tourism 2016/2017

Objectives

1. Define and characterize tourism, recreation and leisure as components of regional development, helping to expand and consolidate knowledge on tourism geography.
2. Understand the concepts of tourist generating regions and tourist destination regions.
3. Identify and characterize world regions in terms of outbound and inbound fluxes.
4. Analyze the interdependence and systemic linkage between the territory and tourism.
5. Understand the strategic focus that must guide tourism development and the role that planning and management play in tourism.
6. Analyze, in the Portuguese context, the role that tourism plays as a development tool.
7. Understanding the process of planning and managing tourism destinations.
